About the Role We are seeking a Lead QA Automation Engineer with deep hands-on experience in Node.js and TypeScript to join a high-performing product engineering team working on a next-generation platform in the skills management and workforce enablement space. This hybrid role combines strong technical execution with strategic leadership and mentorship responsibilities. You’ll help define, build, and evolve our automation frameworks and QA strategy while also guiding a distributed QA team. This is a highly collaborative position requiring regular cross-functional coordination and client interaction. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable automation test frameworks for complex web applications Drive the QA automation roadmap and best practices across the engineering team Build robust, reusable test suites in Node.js and TypeScript using tools like WebdriverIO, Jest, and Mocha Mentor and support junior and mid-level QA engineers through code reviews, training, and guidance Collaborate with developers, product owners, and DevOps to integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines Own and monitor test coverage metrics, quality KPIs, and defect reporting processes Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to represent QA initiatives Tech Stack & Tools Languages & Frameworks: Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, Mocha, Jest Automation Tools: WebdriverIO, Selenium, Cypress Version Control: Git CI/CD (as applicable): GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent Test Coverage: Functional, Regression, E2E, API Testing Environment: Agile/Scrum, remote team setup What You Bring 10+ years of QA experience with a strong automation focus At least 3 years in a leadership role mentoring engineers and owning test architecture decisions Demonstrated expertise building automation frameworks in Node.js and TypeScript Proficiency with modern QA tools including WebdriverIO, Cypress, Jest, Selenium, and Mocha Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in remote and cross-functional team environments Comfortable interacting with technical and business stakeholders, including client-side counterparts Ability to work independently while coordinating across global teams Availability to work in alignment with Eastern Time (EST) business hours Nice to Have Experience testing SaaS platforms, enterprise systems, or HR/Learning/Operations tech Familiarity with REST API testing, performance testing tools, or containerized environments (Docker/K8s) Previous exposure to skills management, talent development, or workforce platforms
